Edmonton Pride Awards

Every year the Edmonton Pride Festival Society rewards outstanding individuals for their contributions to the LGBT community. 

For the named awards, click on the individual's name for a biography about the person the award was named for.  Bios are in both English and French.

The Award Categories:

The Michael Phair Award: to an individual gay man for significant contribution to the LGBT community.

The Maureen Irwin Award: to an individual lesbian woman for significant contribution to the LGBT community.

The Sheryl McInnis Award: to an individual who, through significant scholarship, teaching and/or academic pursuit has enriched the LGBT community.

The Mickey Wilson Award: to an individual trans-identified person for significant contribution to the LGBT community.

The Outstanding Couple Award:  to a LGBT couple for significant contribution to the LGBT community.

The HIV Edmonton Youth Leadership Award: for a youth or person who has worked with the LGBT community. Includes a $500 bursery for education.

Sexual Minorities Community Liaison Committee Award: an award of merit presented to a member of the Edmonton Police Service who has made a significant contribution to the safety, security, and understanding of the LGBTQ community.

Pride Certificates: for the recognition of an individual, business, or event outside of the above award categories.
